Rancho Viejo is a relaxed, golf oriented community and resort that stretches across 1,400 verdant acres in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of tropical Texas. At 26.04 degrees latitude, the lower Rio Grande valley is at the southernmost point of the mainland United States, practically due west of Miami.

Carved through citrus groves and built along resacas, the ancient waterways of the Rio Grand Delta, Rancho Viejo offers a golfing paradise, often with plenty of available tee times on two par 70 eighteen-hole championship golf courses.

Also located on property are two excellent dining facilities and a conference center with plenty of meeting and party rooms. Our award winning landscaped swimming pool with its very large waterfall will remind you of the South Seas. Cruising the resaca aboard the Delta Dawn, playing tennis in the evening on lighted courts or an opportunity to practice your golf game on our driving range, chipping and putting greens is also available.

Rancho Viejo, dates back to the Espiritu Land Grant by the King of Spain 1771. Ever present is the influence of the Spanish and Mexican heritage. You see it in the red tile roofs, fountains and tropical gardens that grace the public areas of the resort.

Hotel accommodations are in 2 and 3 bedroom villas located along the El Diablo golf course or the Resaca del Rancho Viejo. All villas are furnished in regional décor and handicrafts and have attractive views. They are generally quiet and peaceful. Parking is plentiful and available in front of each villa as well as around the other resort facilities.

Rancho Viejo is located just 30 minutes from the beaches of South Padre Island and 20 minutes from shopping in Mexico. Other activities in the area include bird watching, deep sea and bay fishing, hunting of all kinds as well as the viewing of many interesting and historical locations.

It is true that many guests do not want to leave and often ask to buy the villas where they stay under the swaying palms. Many custom homes are also available and bring meaning to the resort's motto; stay a day, a week or a lifetime.
