The Texas Air Museum presents the history of flight from the early days to the present. Here you'll see some of the world's rarest aircraft, including the largest exhibit anywhere of scarce German Focke-Wulf FW-190's. Since its foundation in 1985, the Texas Air Museum collection has grown to include some 50 historic aircraft. The museum focuses on the unusual - the lesser known aspects of aviation history. It is the only place you'll see an exhibit featuring the world's first two aircraft to engage in aerial combat. This history-making "dogfight" was an event of the Mexican Revolution in 1913. Full-scale replicas of the two aircraft, a Curtiss Pusher and a Christofferson, make up part of an exhibit that will be featured in a fly-in. The newest, and most spectacular, addition is a part of the aircraft carrier USS/Iwo Jima. This four story superstructure will soon be available for tours. Phone: 956-748-2112 |
