South Padre Island is a small sliver of land stretching 34 miles, from the City of South Padre Island to the Port Mansfield Channel (north end), and separated from the mainland by the Laguna Madre (bay).

The Queen Isabella Causeway gives easy access to the Island. "South" Padre Island was separated from Padre Island in 1964 when the Port Mansfield Ship Channel was completed. It's great for swimming, fishing, shelling or just a pleasant walk on the beach. South Padre Island is only a 30 minute drive from Rancho Viejo.
