Visitors come to see the birds and wildlife that inhabit one of the largest remaining pockets of wilderness on the Lower Rio Grande River. Composing of over 2,000 acres of sub-tropical forest, it is famous over for over 390 species of birds of Mexican origin. It is also home to many other animals native to South Texas. Interpretative tram tours of the Wildlife Refuge and Wildlife Corridor are 1 ¼ hours long. Drive trail open when tram is not operating. Walking trails open to the public, sunrise to sunset daily.
